If Wind Blown went back to school...

We couldn't let everyone else have all the back-to-school FUN, so we decided to put together a back-to-school THEN versus NOW blog. So, walk down memory lane with us, and see how we've grown up (a little). We've even included links so you guys can SHOP!

What is one thing you always looked forward to buying before you went back to school?

Oh my goodness—I LOVE back to school time! I am a sucker for fresh starts and resolutions and goal setting and dreaming, so back to school is the most perfect combination of all of these things for me! A fresh start without even having to wait until January—sign me UP. Plus, it's still warm outside, which means it really is the best time of the year.

Honestly, as a kid, I remember getting REALLY excited about this light blue backpack with my name embroidered on it. I remember sitting at our desktop computer for hours on end going through the different color and font combinations I could have on it. I ended up picking a Carolina blue color. For the life of me I cannot remember the brand, but I do remember feeling SO thrilled when my parents finally said I could have it.

If you were going back to school shopping as an adult, what would you buy?

Easy, I'd buy a white board. A HUGE one. I LOVE whiteboards. Any chance I get to write on a whiteboard I take it. It is so satisfying. I actually recently took a weird late night trip to Walmart (anyone remember this from Instagram stories?) and I got a fresh new whiteboard and markers. I have been brainstorming my to-do list on it every day. Work stuff is in blue and home stuff is in pink and I cross things off as I go about my day. After I read my bible and pray in the morning I sit and brain dump on the whiteboard. Then throughout the day, I get to look at my progress. It is like a scoreboard and makes each day like a challenge for me.

This is the one I have:

Here is my office goals whiteboard. It is $600 though BAHAHA!

Full Focus planner:
I love planners and I have tried a lot of them, and I would totally recommend this one. I have used it for a year and now I like to use just a normal planner but use the Full Focus method in my planner. Figuring out the top three most important tasks is so key for me. It is a little pricey, and each planner is only used for a quarter. But I still would say it is worth it for the traction you get while using them! I had this one in linen and loved it. I see they also have a student version (probably best for later middle school or high school). I wish I would have learned to organize my week and prioritize like this earlier in life!

Wind Blown Products:
If I were to choose a Wind Blown product to wear back-to-school it would be the Gentle Hoops. They are cute, but they don’t look like you are trying too hard. You can feel trendy, yet still comfortable. Also, they’re fine if you fall asleep in them—looking at you, students!

What is one thing you always looked forward to buying before you went back to school?

I really looked forward to buying my back-to-school outfit. I would usually pick out two outfits and decide the night before! My favorite one ever was for 9th grade—I wore a plaid skirt from American Eagle with a matching scoop neck green shirt with a white cami (obviously), and I don’t remember exactly but I'm sure some ballet flats were involved. I remember it was like the extra boost of confidence I needed going into high school.

Another favorite outfit was my junior year—distressed jean mini skirt from Old Navy and a white graphic t-shirt. I got to drive my red Mustang to school that day, too — it was a big deal!

If you were going back to school shopping as an adult, what would you buy?

Okay, this is FUN! Here are my two options. I would probably call my friends the night before and see the vibe everyone was going with then pick one of these. Obviously I’d wear lots of Wind Blown, too.

I always looked forward to buying new fancy pens and pencils to go along with my fresh notebooks!

What is one thing you always looked forward to buying before you went back to school?

While I got super excited for my brand new Lisa Frank trapper-keeper and pencils, my favorite thing to do was to go to the mall with my mom and sisters and shop for our back-to-school outfits. I would usually find mine at Limited Too. In third grade I remember LOVING this floral mini skirt and t-shirt set. That year the shoes to have were the LA Gear light up sneakers, so of course I HAD to have them. I had them in my closet for weeks just waiting for the first day of school so I could wear them.

If you were going back to school shopping as an adult, what would you buy?

If I were to be shopping for myself today I would likely hit up my local Goodwill and hunt for the perfect high rise skinny jeans (true millennial here) and a vintage graphic tee. I would for sure forego the LA Gear light up sneaks and opt for some white Superga tennies instead. I would keep my jewelry simple and wear two pairs of our Resilient Studs and my Belong Necklace

I always look forward to getting a new backpack! I remember getting my sister’s hand-me-down teal backpack in 7th grade—it had a dozen pockets for me to fill, so I thought it was SO cool. I loved finding all the pens, folders, notebooks, and random knick-knacks so I could be extra prepared for the first day.

Learning new things always excites me and what better place to store all that knowledge than a backpack! Something about a new backpack, packed with all my things makes me feel more confident walking into school—I feel like I can take on the world.

If you were going back to school shopping as an adult, what would you buy?

I’m still in school and packing my backpack still makes me the most excited! If I got a new backpack now, I’d have to go with something practical that can hold my computer and all my books, but I still love lots of pockets!
